SASHA BERNSTEIN In her New York elementary school cafeteria, Sasha turned her salami sandwiches into bite-sized hors d’oeuvres for the lunch table. That enthusiasm for food and hospitality brought her to California to coordinate parties for Esquire, assist Iron Chef Cat Cora, cook and run food in top SF restaurants, write for 7x7 magazine and restaurant consult for Andrew Freeman & Co, while collaborating on events with industry friends.
ALICIA HARVIE has been actively involved in food and farm issues for years and has a strong interest in creative “farm to table” linkages in culinary culture. When not writing, she is the Program Manager for Farm Aid (
www.farmaid.org), where she pens the organization’s “Ask Farm Aid” column each month. Farm Aid’s mission is to build a vibrant family-farm centered system of agriculture in America.
GAYLE KECK, Lowell Thomas Award-winner, has written for Gourmet, National Geographic Traveler, AFAR, Islands, GQ, The Washington Post and other major newspapers. She is also a local editor for the Zagat SF Bay Area Restaurants guides and founder of
BeenThereAteThat.com.
SARA KRAUS is a San Francisco-based photographer, specializing in culinary, lifestyle and restaurant photography. She works with restaurants and publications across the country, with her most recent shoots due to be published in Food & Wine Magazine, Edible San Francisco and 944 Magazine. Her work can be found on her website,
sarakrausphotography.com.
LILY KO is the Restaurants Content Editor for SF Station, a San Francisco city guide, in addition to writing for various publications for 10 over years. Her blog, Classy Eats, documents her dining and cooking adventures in San Francisco.
MELISSA MATARESE Although Melissa is currently pursuing her MBA at Harvard Business School, she is a culinary enthusiast first and foremost, writing about the New York dining scene, when not covering California’s restaurant trends, in her column: L’Epicurien of View From the Front Row
www.viewfromthefrontrow.com.
CAITLIN M. O’SHAUGHNESSY lives in Brooklyn and works at Penguin Books, where she enjoys reading the many cookbooks and food memoirs that cross her desk. She was previously a part of the team at InStyle magazine and writes for The Paris Voice.
CORRECTION— In our Early Winter 2010 issue, we incorrectly listed Executive Chef Christian Monchâtre’s title with his recipe for Anise & Hoisin-Glazed Maple Leaf Farms Duck Leg & Crispy Magret Soba Noodle with Asian Slaw in “Favorite Recipes.” Chef Monchâtre is Executive Chef at the Pacific- Union Club in San Francisco. We regret the error and any confusion it may have caused.
