are late we have managed to cover the
unveiling of Alinghi – WOW!! - something
special. We include what they have
revealed!
Summer appears to have
arrived. Brilliant sunshine,
sea breezes, light winds,
it has been glorious lately
and looks set to continue
throughout the summer.
Hopefully this means
that you will be able to
use your boat or charter
and get out on the water. If you do, then Geoff
Linter’s Seamanship article will be particularly
relevant as it is all about berthing and
manoeuvring. Having recently jumped on board
a charter boat in Turkey and had to manoeuvre
out of a berth in 25 knots of wind you hope that
your instincts and judgement are sufficient o
ensure the confidence the crew have in you is
not lost on the first day of the charter! A report
on this is also included.
If you own your own boat or are planning to
order one then do read Simon Tytherleigh’s
article on Thinking the Unsinkable. Some
thought when the boat is built may enable
straightforward modifications to be made that

might never be required but if the worse does
then it may make living on board possible and
survival more certain.
