The Time Machine
Already achieving iconic status in Southwest China, The Time Machine
at Happy Valley Chengdu is one of the live entertainment highlights
at this new park in the Sichuan Province.
Produced by OCT Song and Dance Ensemble, this stunning
show presents a visual feast packed with exquisite magic tricks,
dancing and stunts. The story features three clowns who, in their
attempt to turn back the clock create disorder of time and space.
The Time Machine then takes the audience to Egypt, outer space
and under the sea, before returning to the Overseas Chinese Town
(OCT).
Fusing song, dance, lights, pyrotechnics, split stages and the very
latest in special effects, OCT’s live entertainment offerings are
renowned for their production standards, having won multiple
awards at both national and international level.
Weeki Wachee Mermaids
The famous mermaids of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in Florida
are this season making a rare appearance in “foreign” waters. Known
for their grace and beauty, the mermaids have already put in a stint at
Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies in Tennessee and are now due to
appear at Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina,
from July 24 to 26.
A feature of Weeki Wachee Springs for the past 62 years (a bit
scaly perhaps, but otherwise looking very youthful for it), the
mermaids will perform three shows daily in Myrtle Beach.
This appearance marks only the third time they have performed
outside of their historic home and follows an overwhelmingly
successful show at the same aquarium last summer. The stage they
will use at Ripley’s is Stingray Bay, a 15ft deep, 85,000-gallon
saltwater tank, populated with five species of sharks and four species
of stingrays. Brave mermaids!
Mythen der Südsee
Mythen der Südsee takes place at 7pm from Monday to
Saturday and at 6.30 on Sundays. The show is included in the

been able to enjoy a new evening gala show. Mythen der Südsee
(Myths of the South Seas) tells the story of man's bitter struggle for
survival and desire for immortality.
Against a backdrop of water and palm trees, the show transports
guests into a magical, exotic world. Audiences watch whilst
reclining on a beach lounger or sat in the sand, but those wanting
a little more formality can enjoy the show whilst tucking into a
delicious show dinner.
According to myth, the South Seas were once inhabited by the
primordial creator Tangaloa. His messenger, the Tuli bird, flew
over the endless seas searching for a place of rest and man was
created. Failing in his attempt to achieve immortality, he finally
accepted the gift presented to him by the gods – the beauty of the
world.
The new gala show was created exclusively for Tropical Islands
by the Polish Ocelot Foundation. Its founder and director is
Bogdan Zajac, a three times world acrobatics champion who
toured North America with Cirque de Soleil amongst other
shows.
