Lufthansa festivaL of
Baroque MusiC
London’s Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music has,
since 1985, filled various churches every summer,
including St John’s Smith Square (SJSS) and
Westminster Abbey.
Building on London’s own rich Baroque heritage
- from Purcell (and his contemporaries) to Handel
and Bach - the Lufthansa Festival of Baroque
Music offers an adventurous programme of
concerts, ranging from little-known gems of
early 17th-century repertoire to large-scale
masterpieces of the late Baroque period, with the
most distinguished singers and period instrument
ensembles from Europe and the UK.
The annual programme always includes a
Handel Oratorio and this year, music director Ivor
Bolton conducts the Akademie für Alte Musik
Berlin and English Voices in Solomon, joined by
sopranos Mojca Erdmann and Veronica Cangemi,
countertenor Tim Mead, tenor James Glichrist and
bass Christopher Purves.

across four categories at the I Shot Hong Kong
Film Festival. The entries, featuring music videos,
animations and short films, share one thing in
common: they all use Hong Kong as their film set.
