SECOND LIFE
Did you know that there is no way to recycle hard
surface flooring? The costs associated with removing
hard floor surfaces are higher – financially and
environmentally.
In that respect, InterfaceFLOR carpets pass with
flying colours. All our carpets contain recycled content
and get a new lease of life through our ReEntry
TM

programme. We accept all types of carpets -- from
residences or offices – and use our innovative
technology to separate carpet face from backing to
give each carpet tile new life. So old nylon becomes
new nylon, or is redirected to manufacture other
products, while materials from the vinyl backing are
used to create new backing for new carpets. In fact,
our backing, GlasBac RE, is made completely from
100 per cent recycled material. What’s more, carpet
tiles can be recycled repeatedly through our ReEntry
TM

programme.
LEED THE WAY
It’s easy to be teacher’s pet. Just get ahead of the
class. When it comes to attaining environmentally
sustainable accreditation, InterfaceFLOR is leading
the way.
Our environmentally friendly carpets and products
are designed and manufactured to help achieve points
for buildings wanting LEED (Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design) certification. LEED is an
internationally recognised institution, which created
a benchmark accreditation system for companies
and institutions that base their building designs and
materials on environmentally sustainable principles.
To date, our GlasBac®RE backing is eligible
for a LEED Innovation and Design credit. It is also
certified under Scientific Certification Systems
(SCS) Sustainable Choice™ regulations for its
environmentally friendly properties.
PAY IT FORWARD
We call many of the carpets we design Cool Carpet®.
Why? Because we evaluate how every phase of a
carpet’s life cycle – from harvesting raw materials
to manufacturing and shipping to installation and
maintenance – contributes to global warming. When
we have the final figures, we work towards offsetting
our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with carbon
credits. Working with SGS, one of the world’s leading
inspection, verification, testing and certification
companies, and using their certified methodology,
we calculate the carbon footprint of our products
and retire an equivalent number of verified emission
reduction credits.
