Which kinds of physical fitness does

How would you change

the session if you were
leading a younger group of
players?
For a younger group it might take a bit longer before
everyone can enjoy playing. You will need to spend
more time giving the players confidence in their
throwing and especially catching. There are some good
drills you can do where you, as the leader, do most of
the throwing, and the players chase after the disc to
practice their catching.
Maybe also consider some adjustments. For example –
you could play ultimate with a ball – a toy “mini-
football” is a good size. Another idea is to say that
whenever a player touches the disc with their hands,
you play as if that player caught the disc (even if they
actually dropped it). This helps to give the teams a bit
more sense of continuity in the game.
How do players record
a37
their progress in ultimate?
Ultimate really is much like any other sport. Players
can record their progress by using log books, making
notes, doing video analysis and so on.

If you were leading an Ultimate game, how would
you help to ensure all players take on the ‘Spirit
of the game’?
Of course it’s great to play some games. If you have enough
space for a full field, you might be able to play 7v7 – but it is
worth playing small-sided games (e.g. 3v3) if most of the Go to
players are new to the game. In a sports hall you might be
