ANNUITANTS UPDATED MAILING ADDRESSES


Military retirees and annuitants corresponding with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) will use a new address as of May 1. Te old addresses in London, KY, have been used for years but are being discontinued and will be replaced by addresses in Indianapolis to help speed up receipt and customer service. Te new mailing addresses (started May 1) will be:


Retired Pay correspondence: Defense Finance and Accounting Service U.S. Military Retired Pay 8899 E 56th Street Indianapolis, IN 46249-1200


Annuitant Pay correspondence: Defense Finance and Accounting Service U.S. Military Annuitant Pay 8899 E 56th Street Indianapolis, IN 46249-1300


Mail received at the old mailing addresses after May 1 will be forwarded to the new address. Current phone and fax num- bers are not changing. Military retirees and annuitants can use the mailing


address to submit any of the following information: • Written requests for 1099R Forms (Retiree tax statement) • Change Survivor benefit Plan information • Correct a 1099R (Retiree Tax Statement) • Establish a Retired Pay account • Manage Arrears of Pay (AOP) Beneficiary designation • Manage allotments • Report a retiree’s death • Report a Survivor Benefit Plan beneficiary’s death • Submit a retiree or annuitant change of address • Start/change Direct Deposit • Start international Direct Deposit enrollment

NEW SERVICE OPTIONS IMPROVING VA CARE FOR


FEMALE VETERANS


On March 21, 2017, the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) and Sen. John Boozman (R-AR) introduced S. 681, the “Deborah Sampson Act” which seeks to improve and expand VA’s programs and services for women Veterans. S. 681 does


the following: • Empowers women Veterans by expanding peer-to-peer counseling, group counseling and call centers for women Veterans;


• Improves the quality of care for infant children of women Veterans by increasing the number of days of maternity care VA facilities can provide and authorizing medically- necessary transportation for newborns;


• Eliminates barriers to care by increasing the number of gender-specific providers and coordinators in VA facili- ties, as well as training clinicians and retrofitting VA facilities to enhance privacy and improve the environ- ment of care for women Veterans;


• Provides support services for women Veterans seeking legal assistance, and authorizes additional grants for orga- nizations supporting low-income women Veterans; and
