Reflecting on the preceding year, our sector encountered a blend of adversities and victories. The photonics industry demonstrated exceptional adaptability and resilience. Through diverse photonics technologies, our industry played a pivotal role in boosting innovation across many domains, including medical & life sciences, industrial, aerospace & defence, quantum and nanotechnology. Looking ahead, the future of
the photonics industry in the coming year appears promising. The surge of inquiries and opportunities within our field indicates a burgeoning demand for photonics solutions across

multiple sectors. Nevertheless, it remains imperative to acknowledge the global uncertainties and economic fluctuations that accompany these prospects. The challenges presented by
geopolitical transformations, recent disruptions in the supply chain over the past couple of
years and unforeseen events require a collective and strategic response. As a resilient and unified consortium, our position at EPIC is strategic in navigating these uncertainties. We’re poised to utilise the collective wisdom and strength of our network to encourage collaboration, exchange valuable insights, and collectively confront these challenges. As we embrace the dawn of
a new year, let’s commemorate past accomplishments while eagerly anticipating the opportunities that await us. The photonics industry, marked by its innovative character and tenacity, stands ready for another year marked by growth
and pioneering advancements. My heartfelt gratitude extends to every EPIC member for their unwavering dedication and contributions toward our shared vision of fostering a competitive photonics industry in Europe.
