PRODUCT UPDATE PRODUCT UPDATE CONTROL & GUIDANCE AGV-SPO TiltPrevention assistant function

Bystronic has introduced the new ‘TiltPrevention’ assistant function for its BySoft 7 software, which increases process reliability in laser cutting applications. The intelligent function enables users to create cutting sequences that minimise the risk of protruding parts. This reduces the abortion of cutting processes and downtime from collisions. Tilted parts are a risk factor during the laser cutting process. They can cause a collision with the cutting head. This results in the abortion of cutting jobs, rejected parts, and in the worst case, costly damage. However, they also impede automated unloading, as the automation system’s grippers have difficulty picking up tilted parts. With TiltPrevention, Bystronic’s BySoft 7

software compiles cutting plans in a way that parts cannot tilt during the cutting process. It uses an algorithm that calculates the mechanical behaviour of the parts while they are being cut out. Subsequently, TiltPrevention recommends insertion and end points of the laser, so that tilting of the parts after cutting is prevented to the greatest possible extent. In addition, the function proposes the best possible route for the cutting head over the metal sheet. This creates an ideal cutting sequence for all parts on the cutting plan. Regardless of the users’ level of experience,

TiltPrevention supports them with an ideal cutting strategy that can be automatically incorporated into the cutting plan. www.bystronic.com

Aerotech has introduced the AGV-SPO, a new high-performance galvo scanner. It offers a larger field of view than conventional 2D scanners, reduces laser spot distortion, and is flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of laser wavelengths thanks to a large variety of mirror surfaces. As a result, the laser scanner is suitable for a wide range of applications, from additive manufacturing to medical devices.

The entrance pupil of the laser beam coincides with the scanner’s X and Y deflecting mirrors, increasing the effective numerical aperture of the system. This design immediately increases the field of view for a given focal length and reduces laser spot distortion throughout the working area. With the new galvo scanner, even larger parts can now be processed faster and with improved uniformity. The AGV-SPO offers a range of mirror coatings and focusing optics to support a variety of commonly-used laser wavelengths and focal

HIGHmodular processing head

II‐VI Incorporated has introduced the HIGHmodular processing head, a highly flexible solution for laser welding, designed with an embedded control unit that can be programmed through a graphical user interface. The HIGHmodular offers exceptional flexibility for focus control with an integrated 1D scanner, zoom collimation and a broad array of optics expansion modules. These features allow the continuous adjustment of focus diameter (M) and focus position (Z) at a focal length of 50 to 120mm and with a Z working range of 40mm. Both the 1D

lengths. Optional air-cooled mirrors and/or water- cooled motors ensure constant temperature conditions and continuously good work results even with high laser power or highly dynamic motion profiles. www.aerotech.com

scanner and zoom collimation are controlled by an intuitive graphical user interface. The new processing head is suited to industrial lasers of up to 10kW and delivers high weld quality in a broad range of materials including aluminium, copper and steel. It can be used for a vast

range of highly optimised laser welding tasks, including battery welding for the automotive industry. www.ii-vi.com

TEST AND MEASUREMENT Beam Waist Analyser Camera

Laser Components’ Beam Waist Analyser Camera for real time laser beam measurement is available in a 3D additive manufacturing modular configuration, providing ISO 11146 and ISO 13694 compliant measurements of spatial metrics such as: M2 values, beam waist size and location, spatial profile, divergence and circularity, among others. All measurements are taken in real time, as the BWA-

CAM contains no moving parts, allowing it to take instantaneous measurements. As with most materials processing applications using lasers, beam diagnostics plays an important role in laser AM to ensure a high and consistent product quality, and to comply with standards by providing traceable laser beam measurement and certification before, during and after manufacturing. www.lasercomponents.com/uk
