A look at the key technologies that will be on display at the trade fair from 6 to 8 November in Stuttgart, Germany

34 18 4 Leader Greg Blackman Show time T

he vision industry will gather in Stuttgart at the beginning of November for the biennial industrial imaging trade fair. Te event will be

a chance to take the pulse of the industry, which is having to adapt to new markets and outside influences, arguably much more so than in the past. Embedded vision and deep learning will have a

strong presence at the show. Both originate from outside the machine vision sphere and both present opportunities for machine vision companies to widen their scope of operation to areas that don’t traditionally use industrial vision technology. Te article starting on page 30 looks at some of the embedded products and deep learning soſtware tools on display. Advances in hyperspectral imaging and technology

for Industry 4.0 will also be a big part of the show; a full preview of Vision 2018 begins on page 18. Te Vision Award, a prize for innovation in

industrial imaging, will also be presented during the trade fair in Stuttgart. Te seven shortlisted entrants, covering 3D imaging, optics, image sensors, a system-on-chip, and shortwave infrared imaging, are described in detail starting on page 34. Imaging and Machine Vision Europe is proud to sponsor the award, which shows off the very best that industrial imaging has to offer. Te team at Imaging and Machine Vision Europe will

be at the show, so please stop by our booth, 1B82. I look forward to seeing you in Stuttgart!
