UEye Python Interface The new PyuEye interface allows interactive programming of uEye industrial cameras from IDS Imaging Development Systems using the object-oriented Python programming language. Python is a high-level general- purpose programming language comparable to Perl, Ruby, Scheme or Java and can be applied to many different classes of problems. The PyuEye interface is ideal for prototyping uEye camera applications for all supported uEye platforms (Windows, Linux and Linux Embedded). Python combines remarkable power with
very clear syntax, making programs easier to read. Since it is easy to use, Python allows users to concentrate on the problem, rather than focusing on the syntax. It is ideal for prototype development and other ad-hoc programming tasks, without compromising maintainability. Its interactive mode makes it easy to write and test small code snippets, without the complex setup of a development environment with a toolchain.
Python is supplied with a large standard
library that supports many common programming tasks such as connecting to web servers, searching text with regular expressions, and reading and modifying files. It can be readily extended by adding new modules implemented in a compiled language such as C or C++.
PyuEye is a lean wrapper implementation of Python function objects that represent uEye API functions. As there is no intelligence in the PyuEye interface, it is as close as possible to the uEye C API and is always up to date.

3DPixa dual 200µm HR
Chromasens’ latest addition to its 3D Pixa family of high-performance 3D line scan cameras is the 3DPixa dual 200µm HR. The camera is designed for high-speed 3D inspection tasks of large, complex and irregularly-shaped objects or textures requiring a maximum field of view of 1,400mm. The 3D solution employs factory-calibrated stereo cameras, allowing the simultaneous acquisition of 2D colour images and either a 3D point cloud or height map. This enables the accurate identification of defects in natural objects, such as wood or ceramic tiles, and is especially effective in the inspection of food products.
Smart Magic cameras New Imaging Technologies has introduced two Smart Magic camera products: the 1.3 megapixel NSC1003 (MC1003-1GB or C) and the WVGA NSC1104 (MC1104-PGB).
These compact cameras with low power consumption offer GigE Vision output in 14-bit. They can deliver 140dB images or RAW data for serving machine or computer vision applications. Thanks to its three operating modes (rolling, global or differential), the Smart Magic MC1003 series – available in monochrome or 24-bit RGB colour – is ideal for gesture recognition and edge detection in fast changing or ultra-bright illuminated scenes. The Smart Magic MC1104 camera can not only image scenes with very bright areas, but can also be calibrated radiometrically to transform it into a thermography instrument.

Frame grabbers Coaxlink Octo
Euresys has released its latest Coaxlink series member, the eight-connection CXP-6 frame grabber, the Coaxlink Octo.
The camera data transfer rate of the Coaxlink Octo is 5GB/s. It comes with a PCIe Gen 3 x 8 bus, offering a peak delivery bandwidth of 7.8GB/s. The effective delivery bandwidth is 6.7GB/s. It is also compatible with the Memento Event Logging Tool.

Euresys’ main target for the new Coaxlink Octo is multi-camera applications, with support for up to eight cameras on a single frame grabber. Successful Coaxlink applications include 3D area of interest, flat panel display inspection, print inspection and in-vehicle video transfer. It will be available for external evaluation in
the first quarter of 2018, with its launch expected in Q2.

XCL-CG510 cube camera Sony Europe's Image Sensing Solutions division has launched a cube-sized camera, the XCL- CG510. The model is part of its 5.1-megapixel range of GS CMOS Camera Link machine vision modules.
The 29 x 29 x 30mm model shrinks the footprint by a third and the volume by 57 per cent over its dual-cable 154fps sister module, the XCL-SG510. The new colour or monochrome modules use a 2/3-type Pregius GS CMOS sensor and single-cable Camera Link interface to deliver 5.1-megapixel images at 35fps. As per the XCL-SG510, the new model includes
a burst-trigger function and users can change the exposure interval, number of exposures and exposure time.
The cubic camera also includes an area gain function that allows minor adjustments in the brightness of up to 16 areas. Additional features include defect correction, a nine-pattern user-set shading correction, and a 3 x 3 pixel filter to reduce noise, emphasise edges and extract contours –
with nine pre-installed filter-factor patterns. The XCL-CG510 is able to capture at illuminations down to 0.5 lx (monochrome) and 12 lx (colour). The C-mount lens modules have a 75 or 45MHz switchable base clock and can be triggered using both hardware and software control. It consumes 2.7W max from a +12V power supply and can operate from -5 to +45°C, and between 20 and 80 per cent humidity. It has a mean time to failure of 81,562 hours.
