Troytacular SIMPLY the best was the view from everyone who attended “Troy Means Business 2017” at the iconic ‘Wing’ at Silverstone. With record numbers of members and exhibiting suppliers attending the event, there was an incredible amount of orders placed on the day and more enquiries than we have seen previously. Mark Bachelor, Sales Manager National Accounts, of power tool manufacturer
Highlands enduring partnership
recognised by Troy Group HIGHLAND Industrial Supplies Ltd. was established by owner Evan Mackintosh in 1985, having previously worked for a local distributor. Evan was convinced he could do the job better himself. He set up on Seafield Industrial Estate in Inverness and with his team set about
becoming a one-stop supplier of all things industrial. Success came quickly as customers identified with a local and very personal
service, a trait that prevails to this day. Thirty two years on Highland Industrial Supplies Ltd. employ more than 300
people in eight branches having added Glasgow and Dundee and turnover across all group activities exceeded £40 million last year. In keeping with the Mackintosh family sense of local community they opened a
cookware outlet, a riding tack shop, fixing and fastener centre, an award-winning café and a barber’s shop. A multi-channel approach has been adopted with customers able to visit
branches or access product via the web site. Highland are the principal sponsors of the Drumnadrochit Highland Games
held every August and support many local charities. They also sponsor a shinty team. An integral part of the H.I.S. success story over the last 32 years has been their
membership of the Troy Group. In recent years this commitment has increased dramatically and this strong, enduring partnership has had a positive effect in all areas of the business. Troy Group CEO Paul Kilbride said: “Troy is very proud to have Highland as
our principal member for the region and we look forward to a continuing and long-lasting partnership.”
Makita, a long time Troy supplier and sponsor of TMB, summed up the buoyant mood when he said “This has been by far the busiest Troy Means Business we have attended, we have taken more orders and have seen more customers than we have ever done before. “Simply a terrific day.” His words were echoed by Troy CEO Paul Kilbride in his closing remarks to
more than 400 guests at the gala dinner now held in a marquee complex in the grounds of Whittlebury Hall, the party having way outgrown the facilities within the hotel itself. Paul spoke of his ‘pride’ at the way members and suppliersworked together
under the Troy umbrella to deliver an ‘unprecedented level of service’ to customers the length and breadth of Great Britain. He thanked each of the major sponsors – Dormer-Pramet, Draper Tools,
Makita, Santander and Toolbank – for their continuing support, not only for the increasingly market- leading TMB event but for work with Troy members week-in, week-out. Among a host of new exhibitors were AON Insurance and Peninsula Business
Services, both organisations able to offer professional services to Troy members across a host of products from personnel issues to employment law, Health and Safety to financial advice. Television star and celebrity Rory Bremner was a hugely popular host with his
amazing impressions, taking time out from his busy schedule (he raced 80 miles from a film shoot to host the event) to charm the audience with his outrageously funny take on new USA President Donald Trump and and scores of characters from politics, entertainment and sport. The Roaring Twenties was the theme of the evening with the marquee
transformed into a Chicago-style ‘speakeasy’ by Troy’s audio-vision and events partner New Image (PR) Ltd. The whole experience was enhanced by a cops and gangsters fight and shootout by the Staged Raiders and supported by the wonder vocals of Megan and music from the Gatsby Jazz Band. “Simply the best ever” was the opinion of Chris Nuttall Managing Director of
Rochdale based H Rothwell & Co Ltd, Chris added “The Troy event just gets better & better”.
