To train pupils to respond appropriately to unacceptable conduct on the part of others.





To encourage a true appreciation of the enduring values of stable family life and the continuing responsibilities of parenthood.





To induce a meaningful understanding of the joys and responsibilities of human sexuality in the context of personal development.





To provide a programme of Sex Education designed to achieve these aims, but which is appropriate to the age and development of pupils. A programme of study designed to achieve these aims is now in place throughout the school, the instruction being given by the school nurse & according to guidelines, as part of the curriculum. Parents can withdraw their children from all or part of the sex education.


Child Protection /Safeguarding


The school has procedures in safeguarding which can be found in the safeguarding policy on website.


The designated offi cer is Assistant Headteacher Mr J Toghill. He is also the offi cer for looked after children. The deputies are Mr M. Love and Miss C. Prosser.


The Friends of St John Baptist School


The “Friends” is an “Association of Parents, Teachers and Friends of St. John Baptist Church in Wales High School”. They have raised considerable sums of money for pupils and most recently staging, window blinds and a projection system for our Assembly Hall. Various activities are organised throughout the year, such as a Christmas Fayre, a Summer Bar-b-que, a Chocoholics evening and a Welsh supper.


Welsh Language


The school promotes the use of the Welsh language across the school. All pupils learn Welsh in Years 7,8,9,10 and 11. Incidental Welsh can be regularly heard in school, e.g. registers are taken in Welsh and greetings are in Welsh. Various activities such as our annual Eisteddfod provide opportunities for Welsh language enhancement.
