for admission has been accepted, along with the home school agreement.
In accepting the place offered, parents are asked specifi cally to confi rm that they will give full support to the efforts made to ensure the maintenance of the school’s high standards, and compliance with the School Rules made for that purpose.
Any changes to the current rules are notifi ed to pupils at school assemblies, and any signifi cant variations are confi rmed to parents at the earliest convenient opportunity. In cases of serious misconduct or indiscipline, parents are contacted immediately. Great emphasis is placed on the expectation of high standards of behaviour from all pupils, enabling them to achieve standards through positive learning in the classroom.
A good quality of life in school creates an orderly community, where all may fl ourish and achieve their potential. However, sanctions sometimes need to be imposed.
The Headteacher is empowered, as an ultimate disciplinary sanction, to exclude a pupil from the school. This can, within certain limits, be for a fi xed period, or permanently. In every such case, the parent of the pupil will be informed of the decision taken and the reason for it. There are rights of representation against the Headteacher’s decision including an Independent Appeals Panel. The arrangements and procedures for these are made known to those concerned at the time, and are in the school Exclusion Policy which is based on Welsh Government guidance.
