jInclusive play for uniors and toddlers

The new play area forms part of a wider programme to help fill the gaps identified in the provision of children’s play across the city.

A NEW inclusive play area has been installed at Kirkdale Recreation Ground in Liverpool as part of a £1.5m programme to deliver 20 new or improved play areas across the city. The programme aims to improve standards in

play areas and address the lack of provision in parts of the city, an issue which was highlighted by a review of green spaces in the city. Speaking at the time of the launch of the

initiative, councillor Steve Munby, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: 'This programme shows the importance we attach to having play areas right across the city. 'And we are funding in a way in which they

will go hand in hand with developments in the city-developers will pay for play.' Sutcliffe Play has designed and installed the

new play space for junior and toddlers; its first installation in the Liverpool for almost 20 years. The project was overseen by Glendale, a specialist in the management and maintenance of green environments, who worked on behalf of the council to gather designs for the space and to carry out consultations with the local community. The new play area offers an abundance of

play opportunities for local children, with vibrant colours and equipment which is designed to stand the test of time. Situated within a circular fence perimeter,

there are a variety of play options available for younger children, including the Two Slides Multi-play unit and Dish Roundabout enabling children of all abilities to play together, with more challenging equipment available to older children in the surrounding open space, including the Trim Trail; featuring a variety of balancing, climbing and traversing activities.

children a place to play for years to come, whilst also creating a space that will bring families together and give people a greater sense of community.” Play areas in new locations are Camp Hill in
