To date, these include the Badminton U15’s Quad event with the four home nations competing in singles, doubles and a team event and the Vitality Netball Superleague. The event attracted 1,000 spectators and was shown live on Sky. This summer the university will host the European Corporate Games and the Hub is also the official training venue for Wasps Netball, GB Transplant team as well as some of the GB climbers hoping to compete in Tokyo 2020. The university is in discussions with Badminton England and England Squash about hosting more events in the future.

More than this, it recognises the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have on the health and wellbeing of students. “The Hub was fully funded by the university; this level of investment shows the importance we place on sport and physical activity, how this enhances the student experience and how such exceptional facilities can be used to recruit prospective students in the future,” says Carter-Morris.


“The feedback to date has been exceptionally positive. The new climbing wall has been very well received in the local community with the facilities reaching capacity during the first week of opening.
