to build their first destination in Bristol and secure funders with a desire to roll The Wave vision across other regions of UK and globally.

Scaling up

Fast forward to today and the project has grown to become the first inland surfing destination of its kind in the UK. Set to make its debut this autumn, The Wave will deliver an unrivalled inland surf experience suitable for everyone from beginner to seasoned professional. “The whole vision has grown exponentially. The Wave is located on a 75 acre site, formerly low grade agricultural land, a 15-20 minute drive away from the centre of Bristol. The scheme features a 200m kite-shaped surfing lake, which uses Wavegarden Cove technology to generate up to 1,000 quality and

The technology used ensures there are no problems with overcrowding, noisy mechanics or hanging around for a wave. Surfing one hour at The Wave is the equivalent to four hours in the sea.
