PETER’S PEDAL POWER WINS AT GREAT YORKS BUTCHERS SHOWCASE


BIKE-mad Otley butcher Peter Middlemiss packed his panniers with pork pies and pedalled hotfoot over

Middlemiss, whose family has run Geo Middlemiss & Son Butchers in Wharfedale since 1881, saw the shop’s champion large pork – or stand pie - go on to be crowned supreme pork pie champion at the 29th annual Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage & Products Competition staged in the Yorkshire Event Centre at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on 8th October. Butchers began life back in the late 19th century in nearby Askwith, selling its products two days each week at Otley Market. Te business has been based in its current premises for well over 100 years and includes a five-strong brigade
