The role of Continuous technological innovation to enhance performance of Mobile Bulk Commodity Bagging Equipment
Pirashanth Sathananthan Nectar Group Limited
Nectar Group Ltd. has forty‐ five years of industry leading expertise in providing purpose built containerised bagging services in ports and other facilities. Performance is key in handling difficult commodities in challenging environments where operations mainly take place. This requires not only a high standard of equipment maintenance and servicing during operations but also keeping a critical eye on breakdowns to further
improve design and optimise components to limit downtime.
The containerised bagging machines are self‐sufficient with their own power and air supply. The improvements made in the design provide a level of protection for the key components housed in the control room, isolating them from the bagging compartment. This offers the generator, compressor, pneumatic valves and control panel an effective protection against the corrosive effects of the commodities handled.
Over time there have been a number of technological Innovations implemented to improve the airflow in the control room significantly while reducing ambient temperature, improving cooling and fuel efficiency.
A recent switch to vane compressors rather than piston compressors has given considerable advantages to both cost effectiveness and overall efficiency. Vane compressors offer better energy efficiency
