Cardiff construction manager takes ‘best in business’ title for Wales!
South Wales housebuilder calls upon Santa to ensure local children are on his list
Mark O’Neill from Cardiff was named one of Wales’ best construction managers for his outstanding work on a flagship city homes scheme. Mark O’Neill, who works for South Wales partnership homes developer Lovell, secured a Seal of Excellence Award in the National House-Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job awards programme before going on to be named as overall Regional Award winner for Wales in the Large builder category. He now goes forward to compete against other Regional Award winners at the Supreme Awards event in January 2019. Te accolades recognise Mark’s superb work overseeing the construction of 800 homes taking shape at Te Mill, Canton, West Cardiff, through one of Wales’ biggest regeneration programmes. Tey follow on from the NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award which Mark, from Llandaff, secured earlier this year. Pride in the Job is a UK-wide competition highlighting site managers achieving the highest standards. Te rigorous awards judging process looks at all aspects of the management of a development including standards of workmanship, leadership and technical expertise. Mark, was presented with the Seal of Excellence and Regional Award at Cardiff City Hall back in September, said at the time: “I’m absolutely delighted that the work we are doing at Te Mill has been recognised by the NHBC judges. Tese accolades underline the high calibre of the entire project team and their commitment to building homes which people love as well as a community where they want to live.” Te new awards represent the latest success for the development which earlier this year received the Best First Time Buyer Family Home title at the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards. Lovell regional managing director Kate Rees says: “Many congratulations to Mark on this amazing achievement. To see him follow up his Pride in the Job Quality Award with a Seal of Excellence Award and the overall Regional Award is a brilliant testament to the drive and expertise he brings to the job every day. It’s thanks to the energy, commitment and professionalism of Mark and his team that Te Mill is offering some of Cardiff’s most desirable new homes.” Te Mill is being delivered by a partnership of Lovell, Tirion Homes and Cadwyn Housing Association. Te land was acquired and remediated by Tirion with support from the Welsh Government and financial backing from the Principality Building Society. Overall, it will create 358 homes for open market sale through Lovell and 442 homes for Tirion Homes which will be managed by Cadwyn Housing Association and will be available for discounted or social rent. Te show homes and marketing suite at the development are open seven days a week, from 10am to 5pm at Te Mill, Canton, Cardiff CF11 8DH. New Homes Wales and the South West
The housebuilder behind brand new communities in South Wales is taking action to ensure its homes are on Santa’s radar this Christmas. David Wilson Homes, which has a number of new developments locally including, King’s Wood Gate in Monmouth, St James’ Gardens in Wick, Springfield Gardens in Cardiff and The Acres in Penperlleni, has written to Mr Claus to make sure he stops by this festive season. Young Max Broughton has also been out with some treats for Rudolph and his reindeer friends to ensure a warm welcome on Christmas Eve. The five-star housebuilder is keen to make sure that Santa is fully aware of the developments and that the new community gets a visit.
Sales director Richard Lawson said: “Having met many of the children who have moved to our developments we know for a fact they will be on Santa’s ‘nice’ list. We would like to reassure
them and their parents that rigorous steps have been taken to notify Father Christmas about their new address.” Santa will travel an estimated 510 million km on Christmas Eve, flying at around 10 million km per hour in order to make the 233 million stops on his list. His first stop is the Republic of Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean and, according to NORAD, which is running its popular online Santa tracker, he will make his way west around the world before arriving in the UK.
Richard added: “Santa has a packed schedule on December 24 and our letters will make sure Santa remembers to stop at our homes on Christmas Eve. The developments have really taken shape since he last flew over, with lots of new families living here, so Santa and his reindeer will have lots to see.” Richard added that families can help encourage Santa to stop by leaving mince pies and sherry out before they head to bed on Christmas Eve.
