Mince pies morning is icing on the cake for fundraisers
A busy year of fundraising by the Barry Barnardo’s Helpers’ Group has been crowned by their annual mince pies and carols morning where they were able to present the children’s charity with a cheque for £1,500. Guests including Jane Hutt AM were joined at All Saints Church, Barry, by a choir from Ysgol Bro Morgannwg and pianist Rhiannon Williams. T e event rounded off a busy year for the group which has been supporting Barnardo’s Cymru for well over 50 years, during which time they have raised a remarkable £175,000. T is year’s highlights included a fashion show, coff ee mornings and Christmas card sales. A strawberry tea was organised by the longest serving member June Davis, 89 who has devoted 57 years to fundraising for the charity. and it really feels like the start of Christmas.
“We are lucky enough to have some wonderful supporters who help us in so many ways and are very generous.
A cheque for £1,500
was presented to Carina Zaccaria from Barnardo’s Cymru. “It was a very special event and we are so grateful to the group for organising it and for their tireless fundraising for us over many years,” said Carina.
“T e money will make a real diff erence to the children and families we support, helping
them to reach their true potential.”
