Cardiff performing arts school comes under new management

Te Cardiff franchise of a global network of part- time performing arts schools has ambitions to grow by 150 per cent over the next five years, aſter coming under new ownership. Stagecoach Performing Arts Cardiff, which teaches children to sing, dance and act, has been bought by experienced teacher Kate Davies aſter she secured funding from NatWest. Kate has worked at Stagecoach for over 15 years and decided to purchase the franchise when the existing owner wanted to sell in November. Te franchise currently operates from two schools in Leckwith, Cardiff, and teaches 120 children between the ages of four and 18 across both sites. Over the next five years, Kate hopes to cover the entire Cardiff territory by opening a further three locations across the city.

Te next site, which will be based in North Cardiff, is expected to open in January 2021. Te additional sites mean Stagecoach Cardiff will be able to increase its student capacity from 120 to nearly 300 places, as well as expanding its team of experienced dance, singing and drama teachers from 10 to more than 20.

Founded in 1988, Stagecoach Performing Arts has grown to a 350-strong group of franchisees teaching over 1 million children through weekly classes and holiday workshops across the globe. Speaking on the purchase of Stagecoach Cardiff, new owner Kate said: “I’ve worked at various Stagecoach schools in

South Wales for the past 15 years and have been working at Stagecoach Cardiff since 2018. I’ve watched it grow to become the performing arts school it is today, offering high-quality training in a fun and inclusive environment. “I have big ambitions for the franchise over the next few years, with hopes to have locations covering the entire Cardiff region. I want to make sure any child in Cardiff seeking to secure a place at Stagecoach can do so.” Andrew Tummon, NatWest Relationship Manager, said: “Kate has an enormous amount of performing arts experience through her training and many years at Stagecoach, so she’s perfectly placed to take over this franchise and continue its success. We will continue to support her as she expands the reach of the franchise across the city.”

THE LATEST TO SELL-OUT LES BLEUS

Wales’ Guinness Six Nations round three clash with France at Principality Stadium has sold-out. A few thousand tickets remain on public sale for the Championship opener against Italy on Saturday 1st February, but this game is also on course to reach a bumper audience as supporters flock to Cardiff for new head coach Wayne Pivac’s debut season at the helm. Sold-out signs went up for the potentially climactic final round contest with Scotland, also in the Welsh capital (on 14th March), before Christmas and Wales are now hoping to complete a hat-trick of sell-outs as expectations reach fever pitch for the Grand Slam title defence in 2020.

Remaining tickets to watch the reigning European Champions, and Rugby World Cup semi-finalists, host the Azzurri next month are priced at £20 for U16s, £60* and £65 for adults, with just a few weeks of sale time remining. Tickets for the 73,931 capacity Principality Stadium are available for the Italy game now from a Welsh rugby club near you, online at www.wru.wales/tickets or in person at the WRU ticket office, where maximum purchase limits apply.

The WRU strongly advises all supporters to make sure they always ‘buy official’, only tickets bought from official sources (member clubs, official partners or the WRU direct) are guaranteed by the WRU – with tickets sold via unlicensed operators often cancelled and entrance regularly and regretfully refused on void tickets.
