If you had to choose your favourite song, what would it be and why? This is something Cardiff charity the Forget-me-not Chorus will be asking the public when they launch their exciting Desert Island Discs style project - #mysongmystory this September. This innovative charity offers unique opportunities for those living with dementia and their loved ones to share in the joy of singing together and creating new and exciting work. Welsh writer, Patrick Jones has helped unearth the songs and stories that have a meaning for the choristers and these will be shared as part of an online digital campaign. The charity would like the public to join in the conversation by sharing their favourite songs and stories via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #mysongmystory. The campaign runs from
September until mid October and there will be an offi cial launch on Saturday 23 September on the Glanfa Stage at Wales Millennium Centre at 6pm.
As the charity began at Welsh National Opera it is fi tting that the project launch will take place prior to the opening night of WNO’S Khovanshchina. Following a short promo fi lm, two Forget-me- not Chorus choirs of 40/50 choristers will take to the stage to sing fi ve of their chosen songs accompanied by a member of the WNO chorus and musicians. The Forget me not Chorus
uses music and song to help those living with and alongside dementia. In this campaign the choristers have chosen a song and accompanying story that is important to them and who they are. They would like people to take note and then think about and share the song that is most important to them and who they are, with a few explanatory lines using the hashtag #mysongmystory #mysongmystory via: Website: www.
