Torbay Express Trains Raise £2641.33 for Charity


TORBAY EXPRESS are delighted to announce that the charity raffl es aboard this summer’s steam trains raised the amazing sum of £2,641.33 for their charity of the year Above and Beyond


They are


very grateful to everyone who was been involved in the raffl es, their fabulous volunteer Stewards who sold the raffl e tickets and also all their lovely passengers who bought them.


Above and beyond raises funds to help Bristol city centre hospitals


provide more than the NHS can. creating


environments, innovative


This includes welcoming funding research,


supporting staff training and development,


and


providing state of the art equipment. On Wednesday 4th October 2017 three of the


Torbay Express’s


wonderful Stewards, John, Lesley and Keith, visited


the Above and


Beyond charity offi ces to present a cheque for the donation raised through the onboard raffl es on this seasons Torbay Express. They were warmly welcomed


by


Catherine, the fundraising co-ordinator.


Free energy saving advice


The Welsh Government Warm Homes Nest scheme is partnering with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to provide free energy saving advice and support to households whose health is affected by living in a cold or damp home.


The Nest team will be at Heath Hospital on Thursday 19 October and University Hospital Llandough on Friday 20 October. They will be available between 10am and 2pm with a range of free energy saving advice.


The Nest scheme’s collaboration with the health board comes as a result of research which highlighted that the scheme can have a positive impact on the health of people who receive support. In addition to advice, people who receive a means tested benefi t and live in a home that is hard to heat may also be eligible for free home energy effi ciency improvements from Nest. These may include a replacement boiler, central heating system or insulation.
