Sword & Trowel 2016: Issue 1
Portuguese books to promote and support evangelistic Sunday Schools, from left: The Necessity of Sunday Schools by Peter Masters and Malcolm Watts, How to Build an Outreach Sunday School and Lessons for Life 1-3 by Jill Masters.
joined us and we see the Lord’s hand guiding us in this. We are so encouraged to see these
books fi nally in Portuguese. They are already proving to be of great help and encouragement to our own con- gregation but, far beyond this, we are praying and labouring much that this work may be the beginning of a new reformation in Brazil, bringing peo- ple and churches back to the Word of God, and helping to counter the rapid advance of new Calvinism in Brazil with its worldliness and Pente- costal elements. On 30th
July we will launch the
publishing house ‘Princípios Reais’ (Royal Precepts) to announce formal- ly our range of literature to the wider Christian literature circles in Brazil. A webpage is being built (
www.principiosreais.
com.br).
Amongst other efforts, we are develop- ing a list of Christian conferences, to which we may try to send our books, and are mak- ing a list of Christian bookshops in different states to promote our
book catalogue. We are also building a list of pastors who would like to distribute the books in their towns at conferences. We have been testing the waters these past few months since the books were printed, by sending cop- ies to some pastors and seminary students known to us. The response has been very good. People are sur- prised with the biblical and practical quality of the books. They say: ‘The books answer questions and give clear biblical direction on many is- sues…It is reformed and practical literature that truly helps the people of God.’ Please support us in your prayers
as we look to the Lord to bless this venture to his glory.
Ábner and Hanneke Araújo moved from London to São Paulo in 2011 to pioneer a church and continue translation work. Ábner studied in the LRBS. They are supported by the Overseas Ministry Fund (see page 16 for details).
