ORE than 140 tightly arranged chairs in our rented facility get
fi lled with members and visitors on Sundays. Fifteen are seeking church membership and attending special classes. We rejoice that our Saviour continues to draw people to himself through the ministry of the Gospel, here in Lagos. Please pray that the negative infl uences on some younger members from the internet sites of new Calvinism and such like will be restrained and reversed, and that divisions will not arise among us because of them.
The fall in international oil prices
is adversely affecting our national economy. Infl ation rates are now unbearably high and unemployment is around 60%. This not only affects our ministries but it also helps the prosperity ministers to thrive with their false gospels. Please remember the Nigerian government in your prayers, and the church as we go through these diffi cult times.
Blessed Children Sunday School Ministry: At our prizegiving ceremony in December over 200 children were in attendance from the three outreach centres in Lagos – 50 more than the average weekly attendance. The children’s enthusiasm was heart-warming as they sang joyfully and eagerly participated in the quiz. Children’s books were awarded for outstanding performances in different aspects of Sunday School and parents present participated in handing out the awards. Other gifts were also distributed and there was a special lunch. We are encouraged to see evidence of interest in the things of God, and tokens of growth in grace in the children. One 10-year old, who had complained to his parents about their practice of noisy praying, was withheld from attending our Sunday School.
