MHM’S ROCKET LAUNCH

In readiness for the forthcoming lighting season, Rocket Rentals has added 27 X-Eco LED lighting towers from MHM Plant to its fleet, the first order it has placed with the company. “We looked at several makes of lighting towers before opting for

the machines,” said Rocket Rental’s MD Simon Tomblin. “However, we were really impressed with the quality of the build of the X-Eco.” MHM states that the machine’s energy saving LED lamps will work for up to 50,000 hours without needing replacement, and a safety

system automatically lowers the mast if the lighting set is moved whilst it is still erected. Rocket Rentals says it may buy more of the X-Eco units in the future.

The company, which is based at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire, won our 2019 Passionate Hirer Award in the Outstanding Single Depot Hire Company category, which was presented at the Executive Hire Show. Point of Rental for Askham Bryan students Cox adds LCVT vehicle

Cox Hire of Dudley recently took delivery of a new low floor tool hire vehicle from LCVT. Based on the Fiat Ducato, it was specified with a 3.6m bed and a spring-assisted tailgate. With a ribbed aluminium floor and drop sides, it can carry a wide range of light plant and tools, including low-level access platforms that can be driven straight on. Director Jon Richmond, pictured (right) with LCVT’s Steve

Elwell, said, “We needed to replace one of our traditional drop side trucks and wanted to move away from towing. We spoke to LCVT and liked the fact that the chassis was designed specifically for commercial applications and that the original suspension was retained. The vehicle is proving extremely flexible in carrying all our light plant and, even when fully loaded, seems more than capable.”

Leeds-based hire and sales company, Chippindale Plant, has re-located its York depot to a larger site just off the A64, giving better transport links, more workshop space and a platform for expansion in the surrounding area. Joint MD Nigel Chippindale says that the

move is part of a detailed investment plan to improve the company’s infrastructure.

serving the north of England and offers a wide range of machinery, tools, attachments and site accommodation.

Point of Rental has provided software and a training database to Askham Bryan College near York for plant hire apprentices to learn about managing hire transactions. “The

support provided by Point of Rental in donating their Syrinx software will enable us to simulate situations that apprentice hire controllers will encounter in the workplace,” said Peter Chapman, Course Manager & Lecturer in Construction Plant Management.
