MARKET REPORT COMPACT PLANT continued

Expanded Takeuchi line-up

Takeuchi has increased its mini excavator line-up for the tool and plant hire market during 2019. The TB215R, pictured, has been upgraded to give similar performance to that of the popular TB216 1.6-tonne machine in terms of digging depth and power, but has the added advantage of short tail swing. The TB215R can be used with new slim-line TKB52 and TKB72 hydraulic breakers for trenching work and other tasks in confined spaces. The TB235-2 is a new-style 3.5-tonne excavator

with an engine that is rated at under 19kW to comply with Stage V emissions regulations. It has a roomy cab, an MP3 socket and a colour VDU. The machine comes with factory-fitted hydraulic hitch pipework as standard and all-round LED lighting.

Doosan mini quintet

Doosan Construction Equipment has expanded its range of mini excavators with the launch of five new Stage V-compliant machines: the DX27z, DX35z (pictured), DX62R-3, DX63.3 and DX85R-3. The 2.7-tonne DX27z and 3.5-tonne DX35z are zero tail swing models.

The former has a large cab and is available with an optional long arm. The DX35z is new-generation model designed for productivity and comfort. Doosan has also launched new Stage V versions of its DX62R-3 and DX63-3

6-tonne and DX85R-3 8-tonne minis. The last-mentioned model is a reduced tail swing excavator powered by a Yanmar 4TNV98C common rail direct injection diesel engine. The new Stage V versions of the DX62R-3 RTS and DX63-3 conventional tail swing machines have the same engine, giving a 22% increase in power over their predecessors, says the manufacturer.

Fosseway Plant Hire is now fitting the mini excavators in its fleet with tilt-rotators from Engcon UK. Trevor Palmer, Sales Director of the Cotswolds-based

hirer, says that the devices can improve functionality and machine performance by up to 50%. The company is now aiming to raise awareness of the benefits, such as greater operational versatility and enabling jobs to be completed more quickly.

operational parameters and the entire range have cruise control and ‘stick- steer’ functions. These allow operators to switch between conventional lever/foot-pedal steering to joystick control at the touch of a button, and to move efficiently across the job site. The cabs themselves are pressurised, providing increased comfort and dust suppression, and can be specified with air conditioning. A load-sensing hydraulic system is incorporated, and the Cat engines have

in-built idle control and automatic shutdown systems. 01543 461461
