New electric Sherpa

The French company Electroman promoted the latest electric version of the compact

Sherpa micro skid steer loader, designated the 100EHD. Made in Holland by Sherpa Miniloaders BV, this 100% electric machine weighs 900kg and is powered by a 3.25kW PMAC 24V electric motor. The machine was displayed carrying a Globram

RM45S hydraulic breaker from Euroram- Rockmaster BV. The 100EHD is operated by remote control so that the operator can stand well away from any potentially dangerous indoor demolition work. The 760mm-wide unit has hydrostatic drive via

two wheel motors. To move the machine, the remote control console can be slotted onto the rear of the loader so that it can be operated by a person standing on the rear platform. As well as a breaker, the machine can be used with a variety of attachments including a 141kg-capacity loader bucket and pallet forks able to carry 217kg.

More Sany minis

The Chinese construction equipment maker Sany showed a number of new tracked excavators. The smallest was the zero tail swing SY26U, pictured, which weighs in at 2,625kg when fitted with a canopy, and has a 14.6kW Yanmar engine. Also of potential interest to hirers is the SY50 mini excavator. This cabbed model

weighs 5,400kg and is powered by a 29.1kW Yanmar engine. Sany minis are brought into the UK by TDL Equipment.

As well as demonstrating its prototype EX2 fully electric mini excavator (see EHN Nov/Dec 2017) on the outside demonstration ground, Volvo had a new, more conventional mini on its indoor stand. The newcomer, which received its world premiere at Intermat, is an ultra-short tail E-series version of the 1.8-tonne class EC18. The new ECR18E now has the shortest radius in the Volvo range so that it can work

safely close to obstructions in confined spaces. The machine has a variable width undercarriage that can be retracted to less than 1m and expanded to 1.35m for stability whilst digging to a maximum depth of 2.44m. The machine has 50 hours greasing intervals. The 12.0kW Volvo engine can be

fitted with auto-idle and automatic engine shutdown characteristics, which can reduce noise and fuel consumption. Volvo will also exhibit at Hillhead this month.
