INTERMAT REVIEW

Pride of Intermat

Nick Johnson focuses on the new compact equipment with hire potential that caught his eye at the recent Intermat exhibition in Paris.

Stage V Kohler-SDMO generator

Kohler-SDMO proudly exhibited a pre-production generator with a Stage V emissions compliant engine. Clearly showing that the company is well-prepared to meet the forthcoming change in engine emissions requirements, it revealed the C5 version of its 44kVA Rental Compact model. The R44C5

skid-mounted generator is powered by a 40kW Kohler KDI19TCR

engine. It has steel covers and has been developed at the Kohler-SDMO factory in Brittany. The Rental Compact range is designed specifically for sale to hire companies.

Yanmar Construction Equipment Europe highlighted the new Dash 3 version of its 3,000kg-capacity tracked dumper. Made in Japan, it is available in two versions: the rear tip C30R-3 with a dropside, flat bed rear tip body and the C30R-3TV with a swivel, dumper-style, skip. Complete with a new two-pump hydraulic system, these mini

dumpers feature a forward mounted operator’s compartment with a reversible seat. They are each powered by a 34.5kW Yanmar 4TNV88c-KFW engine and have a new HST hydrostatic transmission. Yanmar was

the first mini manufacturer to introduce zero tail swing excavators into the UK and,

at Intermat, it showed four new ViO zero tail swing minis. Complete with wider cabs, new engines and new air suspension seats, they include the hire industry orientated 2,560kg/2,665kg ViO26-6 with load sensing hydraulics. The other newcomers are the 2,640kg/2,745kg ViO27-6, 3,080kg/3,200kg ViO33-6 and 3,155kg/3,275kg ViO38-6, all of which incorporate the Yanmar VIPPS hydraulic system. Visitors were also able to inspect the new Yanmar 5,635kg SV60

short tail tracked compact excavator. Powered by a Yanmar engine, this machine utilises the same cab as is used on the company’s 8-tonne midi excavator. The SV60 has a monobloc boom and the option of standard or long length dipper arms.

Integral cab Mecalac dumpers

Since buying the Terex compact equipment factory in Coventry at the end of 2016, the French company, Mecalac, has been busy re-designing some of the classic product lines, such as the Benford-derived site dumpers. Intermat 2018 saw the world premiere of the new MDX site dumper design which has an integrated cab. There will be two sizes available, the 6MDX and 9MDX, with maximum

skip capacities of 6 and 9 tonnes respectively. Complete with wide access steps up to each side, these machines are expected to become available in the fourth quarter of this year. The ROPS/FOPS Level 2 cabs have curved front screens made from armoured glass and incorporate heating and air conditioning. Mecalac will also be exhibiting at Hillhead later this month.
