Your “must-attend” event

EHN talks to a number of hirers about what they will be looking for when they go to the Show, and why it is so important for other industry professionals to visit the event.

“ Daren, right, and David Hare from Hares Hire Services

The Show is genuinely the first date in the diary each year. It is a must- attend event. We speak to as many current and potential suppliers as time allows and also take the opportunity to have a good catch-up with other hirers over a beer or two during the evening Show Party. I am looking forward to seeing the new Hire Show Hall, and the real challenge will be getting round all the stands in two days. Over the

past year, we have

made a huge investment in our hire fleet, adding products such as low level access

machinery and dust control

equipment. Many of these

purchases have come from initial contacts and discussions we have had at previous Shows. Keep up the good work and we look forward to attending this exhibition for many years to come.

The Executive Hire Show is a great event to attend. Our industry’s suppliers display quality products that enable us, as hirers, to provide the best equipment in class to our customers. It is also an opportunity to meet with our industry colleagues to exchange comments and views, as well enjoying some hard core banter, regardless if you are friend or foe. Our industry is a fantastic place to be, as this exhibition brings excellent suppliers and great people together.

We will be going with a long shopping list when we visit the Show. The timing is perfect because we have just completed our move to new premises in Slimbridge, and the bigger location has enabled us to introduce a tool hire operation, which Jonathan has just joined us to manage. So we will be looking to buy equipment across the board for the new

fleet, and we have allocated a healthy budget for this. The Show is great because everything is under one roof and the Ricoh

Arena is so easy to get to. Also, we always enjoy catching up with like-minded industry professionals, and the atmosphere is always positive and friendly. It is a great opportunity to see all the equipment you might need and to do business.

” “ Matt Dolan of Alpine Hire

It is really important to visit the Show because it’s a chance to see your regular suppliers and find new ones. If I have a visit from a rep in my office, it is usually to sell a product their boss has told them to promote, and it can be difficult to see past that particular item, especially in the busy hire shop environment. However, at the exhibition I can see many things in one place and get some real inspiration. Before my visit, I make a mental note of who I want to see and why. Preparation and planning assists in making my decisions for the year ahead. I have a ‘text’ relationship with many suppliers, so it is great to be able to meet up with them at the Show and put faces to names. It is very important to build strong,

friendly links, establishing trust and respect, and the Show helps us all do that. It’s also an opportunity to speak with other hire companies, to gain from their knowledge and experience.
