MARKET REPORT COMPACT PLANT

Latest products Manitou for North London STAND D115

Manitou reports that it is building on the success of its MT625H compact telescopic handler with growing UK sales of its smaller-sized brother, the MT420H Buggy. The first sale of this new model in London has been to North London Plant Hire Ltd (NLPH). The hirer’s telescopic handler fleet is now exclusively Manitou, and the

company says that previous good experience with its fifteen MT625H models led to the purchase of the MT420H Buggy, which has a maximum capacity of 2,000kg and can lift loads up to 4.3m high. The First hire

for the machine was to a contractor who used it to unload and stack pallets of heavy York stone paving

slabs during the reconstruction of a detached house. Its compact dimensions and all-wheel steering enabled it to work safely within the confines of the front driveway and garden.

Case Construction Equipment has introduced four new large frame skid steer and compact track loaders with operating weights from 3,681 to 4,785kg. The SR270, SV340 and TR340 represent brand new model designations whilst the existing TV380 has been upgraded with the new lower emissions engine also found in the other three. In Case nomenclature, S is for a wheeled skid steer

whilst T indicates tracks and R and V signify the type of arm configuration - R for Radial lift and V for Vertical lift. The SR270, SV340, TR340 and TV380 are all

powered by the new-generation F5H (Turbo) Compact Hi-eSCR engine rated at 67kW (90hp). Designed and manufactured by fellow CNH Group company, FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies), this engine is said to achieve Stage IV compliance by using selective catalytic reduction (SCR) without a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The SR270, SV340 and TR340 model numbers reflect the increased rated operating capacities compared to

50

their predecessors, which rises from 1,135kg in the SR250 to 1,225kg in the new SR270; from 1,360kg in the SV300 to 1,545kg in the new SV340; and from 1,451kg in the TR320 to 1,542kg in the new TR340.

JCB’s mini excavator line-up includes three machines with operating weights of between 1.6 tonnes and 1.8 tonnes. These comprise the conventional tail swing 16C-1, the zero tail swing 1.7-tonne 18Z-1, and the conventional tail swing 19C-1. Common characteristics include steel bodywork for impact

protection, improved protection for hydraulic rams and hoses, ten integral tie-down points to facilitate transportation without damaging the tracks, and a swing-out counterweight design to provide easy access to service points. A common undercarriage is used on all three models, and

sloping track legs are designed to reduce material retention, making it easier to clean the machine between hires.
