CCR: time to really take on the environmental challenge
Stephen Kiely Editor, CCRMagazine

As I sit down to write this editor’s letter, the fires are still burning in Australia, causing an environmental catastrophe that may last for generations there. We have also just had a major report from
the World Meteorological Organisation explaining that 2019 was the second hottest year on record globally, the seas have reached historically high temperatures, and none other than David Attenborough is making international headlines by declaring that this is a ‘crisis moment’. As we look forward into the New Year, it
is certainly enough to make anyone sit down and properly think about what we are personally doing for the planet and for future generations. So this is what we have been doing over
the past month, at CCR, properly weighing up the alternatives. After all, we try to take a pragmatic and practical view – just as the credit, collections, and enforcement industry does – business still needs to continue and it does not serve anyone’s interests to not share the kind of information and analysis that is needed to push forward. So, after considerable discussion, we have
come to the conclusion that, moving forward, CCRMagazine will be presented primarily
These decisions are not easy, but CCR has never been afraid to be a leader in the industry, so we have decided to make the bold choice that we hope will prove to be in the interests of everyone
online. We have an excellent online version that we can see huge numbers already read at
www.ccrmagazine.com/ccr-magazine/, and this will become the primary method of delivery for the magazine. Everyone will be able to read the magazine
online each month completely for free and the link will be sent to over 17,500 professionals, more than the printed magazine previously. If you still want to receive a printed copy,
we will still produce some, so you will just need to subscribe to receive it, just as you always have. These decisions are not easy, but CCR
has never been afraid to be a leader in the industry, so we have decided to make the bold choice that we hope will prove to be in the interests of everyone, cutting back on the carbon footprint of printing and, in particular, mailing a large number of copies. The industry as a whole has moved over
to teleconferencing and online portals as the way to share ideas and information, so we are proud to be working with you in the way that you now expect. Happy New Year and enjoy the magazine
in its online format, which, again, you can read, along with our back catalogue, free at
