That pioneering investment at the fi rm’s Luton base was followed up with a scaled down version at New Covent Garden Fruit and Vegetable Market in south London.
The rest, as they say, is history
Today, with Jon as Chairman and Managing Director, the business is established throughout Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire, with more than 200 employees between the head offi ce and recycling depot in Luton, and bases in Wellingborough and Milton Keynes.
The same pioneering spirit that saw Reg seize opportunities in the late 1940's, remains at the heart of the business – indeed, two new innovative ideas have just come to fruition.
“Our Infi nity Programme is all about the circular economy,” added Anna, who left a PA job in the city of London to become the business’s head of customer service, while sister Kate runs the national consultancy arm Veris Strategies, which provides award winning environmental change management programmes.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT 70 YEARS
"We take cardboard from customers, and get it recycled into internal recycling consoles that they can use for their office waste.
"It’s helping customers be part of the circular economy, making sure we make the best use of material - taking some low value and increasing its value.”
Cawleys has also worked with their client Kettering Hospital, to pioneer a new range of offi ce furniture, including desks, shelves, carpets and blinds made from 100 per cent recycled content.
And their HAZBOX service delivers waste boxes designed to store common hazardous items, like batteries and aerosols, to businesses.
With 70 years on the clock, there’s no sign of Cawleys slowing down: innovation and smart thinking is encouraged throughout the business.
“We’re looking forward to the next 70,” said Anna.
