here was a good turnout of Holstein cows at Balmoral Show for judge Ricky Barrett. And the first of the summer shows was blesses with sunshine and blue skies. Holsteins secured two interbreed championship titles under interbreed judge Rebecca Jarvis. The Holstein champion Kilwarden Windbrook Vix from Brochan Cocoman and the reserve champion Hallow Advent Twizzle 3 from Hallow Holsteins took the interbreed


pairs title.


They were then joined by the honourable mention winner, Priestland 5235 PS James Rose, from the McLean family to take the interbreed group of three honours.


“The Holstein pair and group stood out as winners for being so balanced and made up of great individuals,” commented Miss Jarvis.


Similarly to the Royal Ulster Winter Fair, the major prizes in the Holstein judging headed


south with Brochan Cocoman’s second calved Kilwarden Windbrook Vix clinching the grand championship title, before standing reserve interbreed champion. Calved in November and giving 40kg a day she gave 11,192kg at 4.44%bf and 347%p in 305-days as a heifer. She stood first at the Royal Ulster Winter Fair on her first show outing.
