highlighting architectural features, transforming the dim interior and enabling us to read service sheets and hymn books with ease! We were easily persuaded that a comprehensive rewiring and relighting scheme using the latest LED lighting with user friendly programming and control technology was the direction to follow. Options for using the services of a specialist Church lighting design, installation and electrical contractor that could manage the whole project from start to finish were explored and meetings to discuss the needs of the church were arranged. The ease of maintenance and reduced electricity costs were also a priority, and this also supported our status as an Eco-Church. We shared our design brief with two Church lighting specialists and were immediately impressed with the friendly, responsive and flexible approach of Neil and Che at A.J. Smith who grasped immediately what we wanted for St Bridget’s and directed us to other Churches in the North-West at Standish and Eccleston to see their new installations. The receipt of faculty approval and installation was smooth, the new wiring and lighting blends well into the Church and their installation team was flexible to our needs in continuing services and hosting funerals.

The new system has been warmly welcomed by all, allowing all to read easily in Church, highlighting architectural features we had forgotten were there, up-lighting the ceiling and roof trusses, and picking out special features like the East window, the hogback stone, the previously unlit war memorial and the Oberammergau frieze. The flexible programmable lighting control system makes church lighting so easy to operate with
