Golden Finishes helps youth football team support Prostate Cancer UK

W

rexham-based Acrefair Youth Football Club approached the team at Golden Finishes to request their help in raising awareness of prostate cancer in the UK. Golden Finishes produced a number of armbands for the club which feature the Prostate Cancer UK logo. The team will wear the armbands at all home and away fixtures, while coaches will be wearing the Prostate Cancer UK 'Man of Men' lapel badge.

The club has also created a number of other initiatives such as bag packing at a local supermarket to help generate awareness of prostate cancer which kills 11,819 men every year in the UK. Mel Griffiths, head of Youth Safeguarding, said: "We hope to gain the support of other youth football clubs in

the Wrexham and District League to get behind Prostate Cancer UK and do what we're doing. All players have fathers, brothers, uncles, granddads and cousins who all could be at risk and if we stand

up together we can make a real difference. I would also like to thank Golden Finishes of Cardiff who supplied the player armbands. We decided to work with a reputable suppler from south Wales so we could unite north and south Wales as one to help with the fight.” Simon Antrobus, whose 10-year-old son Sam plays for the team, added: "In my mid twenties I had a cancer scare and was tested for prostate cancer, at the time I didn't know what the prostate was, where it was and how they tested for prostate cancer. Fortunately at that time, I was not the one in eight men diagnosed and was given the all clear. My son plays for Acrefair Youth Under 10s and I will be very proud to see him walk onto the pitch wearing his armband in respect of the men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and for men like me.”

Meet the Manufacturer rebrands to Make it British Live! M

ake it British has changed the name of its annual trade show from Meet the Manufacturer to

Make it British Live!

Kate Hills, founder of Make it British explained: “Our new name, Make it British Live!, reflects the essence of the Make it British campaign and is a stronger reflection of our core values, to encourage more people to buy British and manufacture in the UK. Weʼre confident that our rebrand will be the fanfare to attract even more progressive businesses, looking to source locally and re-shore their production back to the UK.” Since its launch five years ago the event has grown from 56 to over 200 exhibitors and it is fast becoming the

go-to event for British manufacturers and businesses who want to source products that are made in the UK.

Coupled with this, Make it British Live! has announced that its two-day symposium will be co-ordinated by renowned industry commentator Eric Musgrave. Mr Musgraveʼs journalistic career has seen him observe and analyse the entire pipeline of the fashion industry, from mill to high street and now to the internet. Ms Hills added: “Ericʼs breadth of knowledge and his depth of contacts across the industry is unrivalled and Iʼm confident that his chairmanship of our seminar programme will bring out the best of the speakers and panellists.” The two-day programme of seminars

will bring together inspiring, informed and provocative people who are passionate about what they are talking about. Make it British Live! will take place at the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, London from May 23 to 24.
