Dare we dream? A

lmost four months of lockdown has finally started to ease thanks to the UK’s impressive roll out of its vaccine programme. Around half of adults have had their first dose and the focus is now on getting second doses and starting to vaccinate the younger people in the country. If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that only a fool makes predictions – and he has, repeatedly. However, there does seem to be light at the end of the tunnel and the hope that we can start to do some of the things that we’ve had to put aside for so long: meeting family and friends; going to shops; having a haircut; drinking a pint, or going to see some sport. It’s all still contingent on us keeping control of the virus. We only have to look at what’s happening to some of our European neighbours to see how quickly the situation can start to backslide. Here’s hoping that this time we’re on the home straight.

Pivot again

For the merchandise industry, it could be time to pivot again. After a year of selling masks and hand sanitiser, it could start promoting some other products. It looks like the PPE will still be in play for a while as we all continue to adopt a careful approach, but there will be other opportunities. Showing you care as an employer will be important. Even as people drift back to working in offices, there is likely to be more working from home generally. So, Preseli’s new offering of a thoughtful 15 piece ‘feel good’ care pack will help put a spring back in people’s steps. The care pack provides a powerful message of support from employees to staff or businesses to customers appreciating the challenges that have been faced and overcome over the last year. Each care pack is assembled using reusable and recyclable packaging and is small enough to be posted through letter boxes as a large letter.

The start of 2021 has been a slog, there’s no denying it. Promotional products commentator, Stuart Derrick, reports on how now is the time for the mechanise industry to pivot once again.

supplied on a spreadsheet. The content can be adapted to your needs ranging from chocolate to lip balm to a handy sanitiser spray.

As we slide into warmer days, it’s time to reach for the sliders. Nothing screams summer like a box fresh pair of slip on shoes. Bosscher International can supply custom-made shoes, ideal for the garden, after a workout, or for sauntering into the sauna. They are an ideal business gift for anyone who loves sun, sea, beach and holidays, the company says. You can hand out the sliders during fairs, festivals, parties, and various events. Thanks to the moulded footbed, the slippers are comfortable, and the sole can be made with small massage cushions. Logos can be printed or punched out on the instep strap to stand out prominently. Men’s and women’s sizes are available and they are fully customisable from 1,200 pairs.

Pubs are reopening, although it will be a few weeks before we can drink inside them yet. Never mind, after a year of alfresco living, we’re all getting pretty tough to making the most of the great outdoors. Branded in Leather’s latest offering can help get the party started whether you’re picnicking or inviting friends and family to join you in the garden. Its leather bottle opener is a perfect gift for beer connoisseurs – a stylish piece to use now that we can entertain friends and family again in the garden.

Made from stainless steel and high quality leather, branding can be printed or embossed. Bottle openers can come in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on price point.

Not leather

Speaking of leather – not! – Xindao is bringing a cool and trendy new backpack to market for those who don’t want to use animal products. The Swiss Peak Deluxe Vegan Leather Laptop is a structured backpack made with soft vegan leather in a clean and sleek style with tonal zippers. The backpack features a top zip closure, top carrying handle, adjustable shoulder straps, external zip pocket, interior zip pocket, luggage strap and a 15.6in laptop pocket. It is also PVC free.

When the time comes to step out of the home office and back into the real world, it will help you do so in style. Another stylish item to add to your going to work collection is the Stojo water bottle. Some may remember the company for its collapsible and reusable coffee cup a few years back. Now it has taken a similar concept and produced a water bottle that is less than meets the eye – in that it can be scrunched into less than half its size when empty.

At full size it holds 500ml of water. The silicon bottle comes with an additional strap so that it is perfect for attaching to a bag or rucksack. A screw on and leak proof lid, means that no unwanted spillages will occur. It’s dishwasher safe and easily comes apart to clean. There are a range of colours and those great folks at Mojo Promotions can print a design on the front of the bottle.
