Special Report

The addition of a resin printer not only creates new business opportunities for existing Roland users, but will also attract new customers to the Roland brand by expanding the range of applications that can be supported. This printer lays the foundation for future developments for the company and contributes to ever increasing sustainability efforts for the print industry. Another plus point for these printers, is that they can all utilise the Roland DG Connect App to increase user-friendliness. Launched in 2021, Roland DG Connect is a machine monitoring app that helps users gain a detailed understanding of their entire print operation, while keeping devices running at optimum print performance to reduce downtime and efficiency.

Guest speakers

During the event, we heard from special guests Bob Bell and Joe McNamara from BWT Alpine F1 team. Formerly known as Renault, the name changed to Alpine in 2021, where a TrueVIS VG2 played a big role in the rebranding and printed about 20,000 stickers alone. Roland’s TrueVIS range is used by the Alpine F1 team to wrap their vehicles and it is estimated that around 1,400 stickers are required for each race. For Alpine, the TrueVIS range is a real workhorse and offers unrivalled speed and print quality, with Bob saying they

are best in class and Alpine is proud to be part of team Roland.

After lunch, treating the crowds to a display of live skateboarding was Raisa Abal and Louisa Menka. Roland worked with the skateboarders to create two exclusive designs on their skateboards, giving the women a voice for female skateboarders. The bespoke prints were designed by Raisa and Louisa, and were printed using the TrueVIS VG3-640 printer to create high-end graphics.

Benefits

It is clear what benefits the TrueVIS range offers those in the sign and graphics industry, but what about garment decorators? I posed this question to Rob Goleniowski, head of sales UK and Ireland at Roland DG EMEA, and this was his reply. “The textile printing sector – like many – is struggling to keep up with dampening economic conditions, and this is why any technological decision made needs to take cost of running, and functionality into account.

“This was front of mind for us when launching the latest series of TrueVIS

printers, a series which delivers industry-leading image quality in each technology segment that is compatible with the widest range of applications. These applications extend beyond the machines, as the digital connectivity delivered through Roland DG Connect, Roland DG’s very own machine monitoring app, allows for businesses to calculate job costs, set appropriate sales prices, and check the operation of multiple printers in real

time – allowing users to maximise business print efficiency.

“Offering premium print and excellent colour combined with intuitive and user-friendly operation our TrueVIS SG3-300 eco-solvent printer is an ideal printer for those looking to offer apparel decoration and soft signage. “For those looking for a larger format machine, or need access to a wide range of ink configurations, to print richer colours, and smoother gradients print professionals may consider the VG3-540 which offers an array of options, including orange and green inks, giving textile printers an all-in-one solution that can accommodate for the toughest colour matches. “Additionally, changes to the chassis of the printer, and improved media handling improvements mean that the printer is the best choice for unattended printing across short and long runs, making it ideal for cost saving and labour reduction in the long run.” The six new TrueVIS models are available now. Roland DG will be exhibiting the printers at several exhibitions and trade events across Europe, so keep your eyes peeled for dates.
