Special Report The TrueVIS range

Shaking it up!

On Thursday, January 19, Roland DG unveiled to a select group of journalists and distributors the biggest product announcement for the company to date. P&P editor Melanie Attlesey attended this exciting launch held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.

I

t was back in the autumn that I received the invite from Roland DG to a top secret product launch. Needless to say, my curiosity was piqued and I swiftly confirmed my attendance. More than 250 distributors and members of the trade press from all corners of Europe were present at the event back in January. We were all extremely eager to find out more about why Roland had decided to host such a large-scale launch at the racetrack in Barcelona. After being seated we were provided with the background to reasons behind the product launch by high-profile personnel from Roland DG. Just like many businesses during the COVID- 19 pandemic, Roland DG diversified its product offering to meet the growing demands of customers and end-users. The global company continued to invest in research and development despite a challenging few years and now the company has released the next generation of printers for the next generation of print. The result is six new additions to the TrueVIS line-up, extending the range to 10, which Roland DG expects to shake up the market.

| 24 | March 2023

The TrueVIS series was first launched in March 2016 with the introduction of the VG-640/540 printer/cutters. The SG-540/300 printer/cutters followed in September 2016. The third generation of these printers was introduced in March 2022. After thoroughly reviewing the previous hardware design, Roland developed a new platform from scratch. The rigidity of the body was increased by four times, and the dot shape and position of the ink droplets could be controlled with more accuracy and consistency. The third generation proved extremely successful and Roland saw monthly average sales grow by 34%. Now a year on, Roland DG has expanded the product line-up further to include five new print & cut models, and for the first time – a resin printer. These additions to the line-up build on the eco-solvent heritage that the TrueVIS series is famed for by adding UV print & cut technology.

LG-640/540/300

The LG-640/540/300 is a new UV print & cut machine. It is the first two-head staggered printer and its speed is a new benchmark in the industry at

21.3sq m/hr. A redesigned chassis, high-quality components, and a variety of media handling improvements make the LG perfect for unattended printing of short runs, long runs print & cut, and so much more. In a nod to sustainability and making the cost of consumables more economical for customers, EUV5 inks are now supplied in 750ml replaceable pouches, rather than cartridges. A move which keeps Roland DG one step ahead of its competitors.

MG-640/300

The MG-640/300 is the successor product to the award-winning VersaUV LEC2-Series. It shares all of the core functionalities of the LG Series, but at a more affordable price.

AP-640

The AP-640 is the first aqueous resin printer from Roland DG and is a historical milestone for the company. Piezo print heads are arranged in a dual, staggered formation with an optimiser print head and dedicated CMYK print head for a finer dot, resulting in more precise colour and image results. The printer uses newly developed water-based TrueVIS resin ink, which is available in 700ml high-capacity ink pouches.
