Sacoa reflects on DEAL 2023


Revenue management system supplier Sacoa speaks to Park World to give a company take on DEAL 2023.


Park World: What industry trends could be observed at DEAL 2023? Sacoa: VR and AR games are becoming more popular and a great add-on to any FEC. There are still many downsides, like the fact that most of them require staff to operate and take care of the delicate hardware (helmets, gloves, joysticks, etc.), plus the space required, and the high cost of ownership. Nevertheless, some products - ‘self-attended’ - are catching the attention of many operators. Also, redemption and instant prize games are still very popular and have great ROI stats.


PW: Did you showcase any new products/projects at DEAL 2023? Tell us more about these and future plans. Sacoa: We exhibited the latest model of Sacoa Kiosk, the K4 version. After the pandemic, we have noticed an increasing demand for kiosks from many customers. Operators opt for self-service kiosks since the cost of salaries and hiring difficulties have increased in most markets. Our kiosk is multi-language and can upsell whenever a customer wants to buy or recharge a card. We also showed our web-based products like CRM, Online Sales, and Event Booking modules, which are constantly enriched by our customers’ inputs and ideas. Many companies have been showing interest in our Mobile App product (both for iOS and Android), and as a result, we have been implementing it for many old and new customers. It allows players to reload their cards without cueing at a cashier station. Players can also check their balances of credits and redemption tickets, and earn points with every transaction done through the APP. Many long-term Sacoa customers have upgraded their systems in the past years. Adventureland at Sahara Centre has been using Sacoa Cashless for more than 20 years, and this year we changed all their game readers to the latest Spark with RFID technology. We also upgraded all their self-service kiosks and point of sales. It was a significant job done with full cooperation from the technical staff at Adventureland.


PW: What is the outlook for the attractions and amusements industry in the Middle East region? Sacoa: The attractions and amusement industry is still growing in the Middle East. Countries like Saudi Arabia and Oman are focusing on this to attract investments through the tourism sector. Smaller countries like UAE or Qatar are saturated, so few new developments are in progress there.
