Jan Maarten de Raad, CEO, Jora Vision
Park World’s Matt Broughton spoke with Jora Vision’s CEO, Jan Maarten de Raad, about turning a tiny operation taking on local decorative jobs into an organisation able to deliver large-scale, technologically advanced attractions across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and beyond.
Matt: Jan, can you tell us about your industry background before you came to create Jora Vision? Jan: In my twenties, a friend and I started a small design and decoration company called Jora. We worked in the evenings alongside our studies, mainly taking on theming projects for bars, restaurants, public pools, and party centers, purely as a creative outlet.
“None of this would be possible without the energy and talent of our team"
My first serious job was with a construction company involved in project
developer, architect, contractor, and broker, all separate companies working together. I wanted to work in a place that could design, build, and deliver under one roof, just like my hobby business. A few years later, a building materials company asked me to move to Hong
Kong to set up three offices in China. It was an incredible adventure that taught me the joy of traveling and working across cultures. After that, I knew I wanted to work for an international company that could design, build, and deliver turnkey projects, all in-house. That inspired me to take over Jora from my friend (who moved on with our
wholesale decoration materials) and transform the design and production side into Jora Vision, focusing on the kind of work I was truly passionate about.
