This year’s EAG and Visitor Attraction Expo was once again a busy affair at London’s ExCeL. But what did the all- important exhibitors think of the three- day show and what worked well for them. Ronnie Dungan ran a vox-pop of key exhibitors to get their thoughts...

ith a record number of exhibitors announced before the show, the signs were already looking good for this year’s EAG and Visitor Attraction


expo at ExCeL. That’s no guarantee of success of course, because the


show still has to deliver on visitor numbers, stand traffic and quality of visitor and so on, but there was an optimism about the show that carried on throughout the three day event. Ian Eason, MD at distributor, Instance Automatics, took additional stand space this year, occupying nearly the whole of the rear wall of the hall, which made for an impressive, albeit stretched out, show presence. He says: ”We had a very successful EAG show which


was down to us having three of the best pieces at the event, namely the Atari Pong Table, the Omni Arena VR Setup and Coconut Shy from UNIS. All three of these machines were played pretty much constantly and we gained a massive amount of positive feedback from them. I would say in what seemed like a quieter show footfall wise, we as a company did pretty well. Our customers, and the organisers too, were very happy the way our stand livened up the back wall.” Sega had a number of its divisions and the show and a


stand that was constantly busy, thanks to the presence of a number of new launches. Justin Burke, general manager, sales, comments: “The whole layout was an improvement and it felt a lot busier, a lot more full. They really maximised the space to narrow the aisles which made a difference. The vibe was there and the atmosphere was great. We had a good offering and people really responded to it. For us it is one of the big shows and we attend accordingly.” It may be less noisy and have slightly fewer flashing lights, but at the other end of the market, Innovative Technology’s

senior business development manager, Andy Bullock, says the firm’s range of note validator and cash-handling systems was also a hit. “As well as receiving lots of interest in our well-established NV9 USB+ banknote validator, our flagship product - the NV200 Spectral, was also a hit on the stand,” he says. “Visitors were also keen to demo our SMART Coin System. We’ve seen a real increase in the number of manufacturers and operators using this state of the art bulk coin validator, mixed coin hopper and recycler in one.” In the world of rides, there was er…World of Rides, whose MD, David Robinson, had this to say about the show: “The show was a great success for ourselves and the quality of buyers was very much higher. Our new Bumper Cars, Future Bikes and Driving School Cars were the three stars of our stand, but surprisingly our Off-Road Vehicle, Farm Tractor and Baby Animals all commanded a great deal of attention… especially from visitors who do not normally fit the EAG visitor profile. In general it was noticeable how many fewer overseas visitors attended, and those that we spoke to regretted that the expo was now held outside of the city itself, because of the lack of visitor facilities surrounding at Docklands.” Suzohapp’s sales manager Marc Aarts, said the firm had its “best ever” EAG. “We were very pleased with the great feedback we received from the visitors to our stand. We work
