Furuvik hosts Sweden’s first interactive dark ride

In May this year, Swedish amusement park Furuvik, located north of Stockholm, will open the country’s first interactive dark ride. With the help of dark ride specialist Sally Corporation and an investment

of over SEK 25 million ($3 million), the old dark ride Spökborgen (the Ghost Castle) is being completely transformed into a brand new interactive dark ride, with scary yet family friendly ghosts as shooting targets. The new attraction will be called Spökjakten, or the Ghost Hunt. “It is very exciting that Furuvik will be the first amusement park in Sweden with

an interactive dark ride,” noted Nina Tano, CEO at Furuvik. “Spökjakten will be a great new ride for all of our guests, young and old.” The investment is part of the refurbishment of the amusement park, which began two years ago with new attractions including as Vekoma Family Boomerang coaster Fireball.

Dynamic Attractions unveils dark ride ATV

T

wo years of testing and construction have made the trackless, indoor/outdoor Dynamic All-Terrain Dark Ride vehicle, unveiled at the recent IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, a reality, according to Mike Haimson, vice president,

technology development at Dynamic Attractions. The trackless attraction provides unpredictable and, seemingly, unrestricted

adventures for guests. “We are able to intentionally put you in seemingly precarious and thrilling situations, but in reality, we are always in complete control,” offers Haimson. To do this, the company utilized military-grade technologies, including a wireless positioning system and cutting-edge batteries to power the vehicles. Guy Nelson, CEO, Dynamic Attractions said: “This brings the thrilling, all-terrain

movement and agility to an intense, theme park-style adventure. The All-Terrain Dark Ride can tackle rough terrain, climb up and down steep banks, and even give air-time

Simworx to theme Immersive Tunnel for Amikoo

ADVERT

UK-based media attractions specialist Simworx will provide a new version of its Immersive Tunnel attraction for the first phase of the new Amikoo Resort Destination Theme Park (see page 50) in Mexico, scheduled for the end of 2018 through March 2019. The attraction, Piratas de Bacalar, will use a single, 60-seat, 3DOF motion base (as opposed to the 30-seat motion bases found in other versions of the ride) themed as a pirate galleon. A real water basin around the galleon will help to simulate a journey on the sea while special effects such as wind and water spray will add further to the experience. “Simworx will be the main supplier for the attraction but we have brought on Jora

Vision for the theming elements,” explained Simworx sales director Edward Pawley. “It will be a standalone attraction within the resort and will be a 50 minute experience in total, with a series of pre-shows leading up to the main ride element.”
