FEATURE: BETT 2022

Bett 2022: the global EdTech community reunites to ‘create the future’ of education in a post-pandemic world

T

he pandemic has acted as a watershed in many areas of our lives and education is

no exception. Pupils, parents and teachers alike have had to adapt quickly to a new and unexpected reality, with online learning becoming the only form of education pupils could get access to. This has presented both difficulties, especially for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and opportunities, in that education professionals have had the chance to accelerate the adoption of ground-breaking technologies. In our first feature this month, we take a look at all the show has to offer.

Benefiting from the advancements of the past two years, the EdTech community has now the possibility to innovate and transform teaching and learning at an unparalleled pace. It is no coincidence that ‘create the future’ is the theme at the core of Bett 2022, the world’s biggest EdTech show, which will take place on 23-25 March at the ExCel London. After moving online in 2021 due to the pandemic, Bett 2022 will reunite the global education community in person, enabling teachers, education leaders and EdTech providers to network, start purposeful

conversations and lay the foundations for long- lasting relationships. Numerous partners will support the event, among them Microsoft, Pearson, Tes, the Department for Education, the BAMEed Network, the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). When challenged with exceptional and

unprecedented problems in a time of disruption, educators have demonstrated the ability to think outside the box and solve problems creatively. Building upon their efforts, Bett 2022 will inspire educators to reimagine traditional models of pedagogy and to spark new ideas, so that pupils can benefit from personalised, future-facing learning experiences and become resilient, ambitious lifelong learners who can harness their knowledge and skills to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. Create the future, the overarching theme of

the show, will be underpinned by six global themes, that is, Leadership, Futures, Inclusion, Wellbeing, Skills and Innovation, which will structure the three days at Bett 2022. Education stakeholders from all over the world will engage with these crucial issues in myriad ways, united in the common aim of shaping a bright future for

Pivotal themes, inspiring speakers and first- class exhibitors: all this and more at Bett 2022 Spread across nine theatres, Bett 2022 will host more than 300 inspiring speakers, over 400 exhibitors and will feature 90 plus hours of CPD-accredited content. Visitors are expected from more than 50 different countries. Speakers will explore how technology can be

leveraged to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, foster pupils’ mental and physical wellbeing, an issue of special relevance in the wake of the pandemic, and create a truly inclusive education system, one that takes into consideration the specific circumstances of each pupil. The importance accorded to the theme of inclusion is also demonstrated by SEND Friday, a series of sessions specifically dedicated to ensuring the provision of equal access to high- quality education for all pupils on the final day of the show. Another key theme will look at how digital

technologies can be used to maximise pupils’ engagement and to provide a personalised learning experience. Numerous sessions will focus
