The Pen Designed by Teachers, for Classrooms: Meet the STAEDTLER Noris Handwriting Pen
Teacher Feedback
The Noris Handwriting Pen is a product shaped by teacher insight. STAEDTLER’s Teachers’ Club (a free online platform supporting KS1 and KS2 educators) distributed over 500 tester packs early in 2024. Feedback collected through an online survey revealed that 95% of teachers would recommend the Noris Handwriting Pen.
Teachers also told us how much pupils love working towards their “pen licence.” In response, STAEDTLER created a free downloadable Noris Pen Licence certificate, available to all Teachers’ Club members, helping motivate young writers with a tangible reward.
L
aunched in 2024, the STAEDTLER Noris Handwriting Pen is quickly becoming a classroom favourite. Built with direct input from educators, it’s designed to meet the real demands of schools, from sustainability to durability. This isn’t just another pen. It’s a practical, long-lasting handwriting tool that supports both teachers and students.
Created for the Classroom
The Noris Handwriting Pen brings the iconic yellow-and-black Noris look into a handwriting pen that performs under pressure. Its sturdy tip delivers smooth, consistent writing which is ideal for pupils developing their pen control and for teachers doing daily marking. It features DRY SAFE ink, meaning it won’t dry out even if left uncapped for days, a big win in busy classrooms. Its barrel is made from 97% recycled plastic, making it a smart choice for schools focusing on sustainability.
The Noris Handwriting Pen is available from all good education suppliers in classroom tubs of 50 in Pink, Green, Blue, black and assorted. It’s an economical solution for schools looking for value and quality.
More Than Just Black and Blue
Based on teacher preferences, the Noris Handwriting Pen launched in five colours, black, blue, green, red, and purple. In 2025, five additional colours have been released, including bright yellow, magenta pink, delft blue, warm sepia and pale green. This range supports diverse classroom needs, from student writing to marking and peer review. It’s a standout feature that separates the Noris Handwriting Pen from typical handwriting pens that come in only two colours. The Noris Handwriting Pen was also endorsed by the National Handwriting Association, who praised its comfort and quality and gave it a “unanimous vote of approval.”
What’s Next in 2025
Handwriting will be the theme of our 2025–26 Teachers’ Club competition, “A Year in the Classroom”, which invites pupils to share stories and reflections through handwritten work, all using the Noris Handwriting Pen.
