Avantis Education and Digital Schoolhouse join forces on VR learning

The partnership is expected to reach 2,500 pupils and 200 teachers in the first year alone.

It will be led by Gemma Hagen, Creative Technical Producer at Avantis Education, who says: “Our partnership with Digital Schoolhouse will help take their workshops into a new space by integrating a VR/AR component into the offering, providing novel and exciting ways for students to understand computing. “We’re looking forward to planning bespoke workshops that could transform the way educators at all levels use VR/AR as a teaching and learning tool.

Avantis Education, creators of ClassVR, the world’s first virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) solution designed exclusively for education, and Digital Schoolhouse, a not-for-profit that transforms computing education through play, have announced a strategic partnership that aims to equip educators across the UK with hands-on experiences of VR for learning.

The two organisations signed the agreement at the Playful Computing Conference 2025 on 24 June, at the University of Westminster’s Harrow Campus.

The partnership, which will launch this September to coincide with the new academic year, will expand Digital Schoolhouse’s ability to deliver VR workshops to schools, colleges and universities across the UK, helping educators at all levels to explore how immersive technology can enrich learning and enhance opportunities for students.

“The partnership also strengthens our commitment to supporting accessible, innovative learning through state-of-the-art technology.” Digital Schoolhouse is a UK-based not-for-profit from Ukie, the UK games industry trade body, which is supported by and leading video game companies including Nintendo, Xbox, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft.

Digital Schoolhouse uses play-based learning to engage pupils and teachers with the computing curriculum. Their workshops are supported by a nationwide network of educators, combining innovative activities and free, adaptable resources to inspire digital creativity.

Shahneila Saeed, Head of Education, Digital Schoolhouse, says: “Our partnership with Avantis will not only deliver VR workshops to a wider range of educational settings, but it will also empower and inspire educators.

“The values and vision of Digital Schoolhouse and Avantis are very much aligned – we both believe in the power and potential of innovative education technology to equip the next generation for a digital future. We’re looking forward to the many positive outcomes from this partnership.”
