FOCUS ON: SUPPLIERS
Connecting schools and suppliers I
n our Focus on Suppliers feature, Education Today has brought together reputable suppliers from across the education sector as schools look to make improvements and maximise their budgets.
It’s that time of the year when schools are taking stock and reviewing their suppliers, whether they’re planning refurbishments over the summer holidays or seeking new suppliers in readiness for the start of term in September. It goes without saying that this can be a daunting task. Of course, there are plenty of options out there, but the importance of finding a good, reliable supplier should never be underestimated. It can be difficult for schools to know who to approach - and that’s where this feature comes in. Throughout the following pages you’ll find some of the education sector’s noteworthy suppliers, endorsed by Education Today on account of their commitment to quality, service and consistency.
Food for thought
We all know the importance of a healthy, balanced diet. It’s vital to teach children about healthy foods and it goes without saying that schools must lead by example. Plus, healthy meals are shown to help pupils maintain concentration and
energy levels, helping with their day-to- day learning at school. Finding the right catering supplier, one who understands the relationship between nutritious food and enhanced learning, should therefore be top of the list for schools. On page 10, Rupert Weber, Head of Education at apetito, explains: “At apetito, we do the ‘heavy lifting’ for schools. Our range of over 150 premium, pre-prepared meals and desserts mean there are healthy options that suit every taste and dietary requirement. One of our favourite phrases is ‘eat well, learn well’.”
Shedding light on learning The significance of lighting - and the right lighting supplier - should not be overlooked. As schools face budget restrictions, saving money through energy efficient lighting is more crucial than ever. The environmental benefits speak for themselves too - but beyond this, lighting can have a huge impact on the learning environment, affecting students’ focus, energy levels and ability to retain information. B.E.G. (page 6) has worked with schools to manufacture lighting control solutions for more than 40 years. The expert in ‘human-centric lighting’ delivers solutions which adapt to the natural circadian rhythm, while at the same time prioritising energy efficiency.
