B.E.G. recently enabled a brand-new London free school to achieve its energy efficiency ambitions and provide an enhanced learning environment for its pupils.
John Keats Primary Free School in South Bermondsey, had high ambitions for its pupils and, with the building designed with education in mind, the lighting was designed and controlled in a way that would maximise the pupils’ comfort, concentration and alertness. The lighting was also automated and adjustable, as different areas required different lighting levels and timings, whilst B.E.G. met the needs of the school by ensuring that areas were only lit when occupied, to save energy and reduce costs.
Importantly, with use of the B.E.G. sensors, school staff were able to
manually override the controls and dim the lights down or off, which they could do via the B.E.G. app on a smartphone, for presentations, for example, while reducing lighting levels in areas when there is no occupancy at all.
