THE EDUCATION TODAY OUTSTANDING

CONTRIBUTION AWARD NICK MADHAVJI, CEO of Joskos

Last month’s Awards ceremony saw NICK MADHAVJI, CEO of Joskos, take home the Outstanding Contribution Award. We caught up with Nick following his well-deserved win to discuss his career, his plans for the future, and his insights on what’s next for the education sector.

What does winning this award mean to you? Winning the Outstanding Achievement Award is an incredible honour and I am very grateful. It’s humbling to be recognised in a sector that I am so passionate about, and it’s a reflection of the collective hard work and dedication of the entire Joskos team. For me, this award isn’t just personal; it’s a testament to the power of collaboration and shared purpose in making a difference. I also firmly believe that no one is truly self-made. We are shaped by the experiences and lessons we gain from those around us— our parents, teachers, partners, teams, and mentors. This award is as much theirs as it is mine. Supporting schools and educational institutions to achieve their goals has always been at the heart of what we do, and this recognition inspires us to aim even higher.

Can you tell us more about your company, Joskos? Joskos is a technology company dedicated to the education sector, and for over 20 years, we’ve specialised in delivering IT solutions that empower schools to thrive. From managed IT services to infrastructure projects, we work closely with schools to ensure their technology supports both teaching and learning. What sets us apart is our focus on relationships—we don’t just provide IT; we partner with schools to understand their unique challenges and tailor our solutions to meet their needs. It’s a privilege to contribute to the educational journeys of so many students and educators.

What inspired you to focus your business on the education sector?

Education has the power to transform lives, and I’ve always been drawn to its potential to create a brighter future. My own school experience was a tough one—being dyslexic and facing other challenges meant I never really had the chance to fully live my school years. Back then, we didn’t have companies like Joskos or access to the kind of technology that can make a real difference. When I started Joskos, I saw a gap where technology was being implemented in schools without much thought for its practical impact. I wanted to change that. Knowing there are learners in classrooms today who, like me, can thrive with the right balance of tools gives our work a deeper purpose. By focusing on education, we’re not just providing technology; we’re empowering schools to deliver better teaching, learning, and outcomes. Even 20 years on, the tangible difference we make in classrooms continues to excite and motivate me every day..

What are the greatest challenges and opportunities for this sector?

The education sector is constantly evolving, and one of the biggest challenges is ensuring schools have access to the right technology within constrained budgets. Schools are expected to deliver more with less, and this can make it difficult for them to invest in long-term solutions. However, this challenge also presents an opportunity. By helping schools use technology more efficiently and strategically, we can unlock real value. Digital transformation, particularly with tools like AI and data analytics, presents an exciting opportunity to improve learning experiences and outcomes which we are perfectly positioned to help with.

What would you say is your greatest achievement to date? My greatest achievement isn’t about building a business but about the people I’ve had the privilege to work with and serve. It’s seeing individuals in the companies I run or collaborate with grow, thrive, and find purpose in their work. It’s about the collective impact we create together—supporting schools and trusts to achieve their vision, empowering educators to focus on what truly matters, and helping learners unlock their potential. The real reward comes from hearing stories of transformation: students who’ve gone from feeling left behind to becoming confident and successful, or teachers who’ve found renewed energy and focus because of the support we’ve provided. Those moments, when I see how our efforts have made a real difference in someone else’s life, are what I’m most proud of. For me, it’s about serving others, enabling growth, and creating

an environment where people can contribute to something meaningful. That’s the essence of everything I do and what continues to drive me forward.

What goals are you focusing on next, either personally or professionally? Or both! Professionally, my focus is on ensuring Joskos continues to innovate, deliver outstanding value to schools, and strengthen our relationships with trusts and educators to help them achieve their visions. Supporting the team to grow and thrive remains a key priority, fostering a culture of collaboration and service that benefits everyone we work with. Personally, I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned over the years—through mentoring, writing, and engaging with the wider business and education communities. My goal is to inspire others to recognise the transformative power of service, collaboration, and the positive impact we can all have when we work together. This award is a wonderful milestone, but for me, it represents the beginning of an even greater journey of contribution— supporting education, empowering others, and creating a legacy that serves future generations..
